Location shots: Wednesday 10th November 2010

Today, our group went outside to shoot mini clips with a video camera. Each member in our group took a mini clip on the video camera of different locations. After we went into the studio to take photos of 1 person in our group. We altered the lighting on the camera and we changed the position of the camera. Each member of our group took roughly 12 photos each.

Here are the location photos we took:

This side view photograph of our group sitting on a wall.I like this photo as its Linear perspective photography as the people in our group get smaller and its shows contrast in lighting.I also like how the trees are in the distance with brightly coloured leaves as its autumn. The one thing that could be improved about this photograph is the group should look in one direction. This will make the photograph look more effective. The photo composition adds depth and impression of shape, structure or sense of distance

This is a long distance photograph.I think this would be a good photo for the actual location shoot,as there is different lightening/colouring in this photograph and I like the texture and the colouring od the autumn leaves.I also like the composition of lines on the wall. This is a diminishing perspective photograph -this is objects that are further away will look smaller than those that are nearer to it. It is always good to have objects overlapping each other like in this photograph how the tree are overlapping each other. However I do think that I need to be careful when taking this photo as i could loose the sense of depth and this photo is not very clear as the people in this photograph look too small to be seen.

This is the close up photograph.

We took photographs in different locations to find out which location will be best for when we do our group video. We took different types of photos: long distance photos, close up photos and side view photos.I preferred the close up photographs,as they came out much clearer and the background of the trees look better.

This is the HDV camcorder I used to take the mini video clips. It is a "Sony HVR-Z5E."

  1. Was there a particular location that you preferred? Why? Discuss the difference between different locations e.g. rural versus urban.

Analyse all of the pictures - what you like and dislike and why, how could they be improved?
